PRO

A recurring expense is a payment that repeats every week, every two weeks or every month, like your rent, the power bill or a subscription. You log it once and facturillo creates the receipt for you on each charge date. If you want, it also reminds you a few days before.

What you can log

  • Rent, an installment or a monthly fee you always pay on the same date.
  • Utilities like power, water, internet or your phone. If the amount changes on every charge, turn on Variable amount.
  • Subscriptions billed weekly, every two weeks or monthly.
  • A reminder 1 day, 3 days or 1 week before each charge.

Create a recurring expense

1

On the home screen, tap the round button at the top right (it alternates between your profile photo and a three-dot icon) to open your profile.

2

In the TOOLS section, tap Recurring Expenses. The list of your recurring expenses opens.

3

Tap the + button at the bottom right. Add manually opens.

4

If you have a photo or a PDF of the charge, tap Attach, pick it and tap Analyze with AI so the details fill in on their own. Otherwise, tap Enter manually.

5

In Add Receipt, fill in TITLE, AMOUNT, DATE and CATEGORY. Further down, in the RECURRING section, the Recurring expense switch is already on.

6

Choose how often it repeats: Weekly, Bi-weekly or Monthly.

7

Check STARTS, the first charge date. facturillo works it out from the date and the frequency, and you can change it. If the expense has an end, set the date in ENDS. If you leave it at Never, it repeats with no end date.

8

Tap the card under REMINDER (it says Don't remind by default) and, in the Options sheet that opens, choose Don't remind, 1 day before, 3 days before or 1 week before.

9

If the amount changes on every charge, turn on Variable amount. Tap Save: this receipt is recorded, the expense is scheduled and you go back to the home screen.

You can also schedule it while you add a receipt by hand: in the form, turn on the Recurring expense switch in the RECURRING section and fill in the same details. See Add a receipt with a photo or by hand.

How the receipts and reminders are created

On each charge date, facturillo creates the receipt on its own, with the title, amount and category you saved. It shows up in your list like any other receipt and also in the expense's detail, under Latest transactions.

If you chose a reminder, you get a Payment reminder notification that many days before the charge, in the morning. It shows the amount and the name of the expense. With Variable amount on, the reminder leaves out the amount, and facturillo is more flexible when it links the expense with the receipt you scan.

Review, change, pause or remove an expense

1

Open your profile and tap Recurring Expenses. Above the list, choose Active, Paused or Completed.

2

Tap an expense to open Recurring expense details. There you see the next date, the Reminder, the Day of charge, when it Ends and the Latest transactions. Tap See all to see every receipt it created.

3

To change it, tap the pencil button at the bottom right. In Edit Recurring Expense, adjust what you need and tap Save.

4

To pause it, tap the three dots at the top right and, in Options, tap Pause. While it is paused no receipts are created. To carry on, go back to the same menu and tap Resume: it continues from the next charge, without creating the receipts of the paused time.

5

To skip only the next charge, tap the three dots and then Skip next occurrence. That charge is not created and the expense carries on with the following one.

6

To remove it, tap the three dots, then Remove, and confirm with Remove in Remove recurring expense. No new receipts will be created and it cannot be undone.

Tip

If you will not pay an expense one month, use Skip next occurrence instead of pausing it: the following charge stays scheduled and you do not have to remember to resume it.

On the Free plan

Recurring expenses need a paid plan, Pro or Family. On the Free plan, Recurring Expenses shows in your profile with the PRO label and tapping it opens the plans screen. In the form of a manual receipt the RECURRING section does not show either: at the top you see a card that starts with Unlock more with, and tapping it opens the plans screen.

If your paid plan ends, your recurring expenses pause on their own and no receipts are created. When you have a paid plan again they resume on their own, and the ones you paused yourself stay paused. On a Family account, only the person who manages the account can create, change or pause recurring expenses.
